I always get Nikon's extended warranty.
Bought Nikon's extended warranty (2 years beyond standard 1 year warranty) because electronic cameras just aren't as robust as the older mechanicals. If there's a problem (with the D200), I expect it will happen after 1 year but before three years. [$]
Personal use at this time moving into Professional use.
Glad Nikon finally offered their own warranty. Total peace of mind knowing that if I need a repair it will be done at the factory.

Nikon USA imposes too many restrictions on warranty coverage and service areas.
In addition, the warranty card states that to obtain worldwide coverage you must present the original warranty registration form, but to obtain Nikon rebates, you are required to send in that same form. Without explicit request by the customer to have the original form sent back, in esense you loose your worldwide warranty.
