May not have been necessary for me since I don't do studio work. But it helps to have something standard to judge color in digital processing and printing.
I purchased a Spyder3 to calibrate my monitor but still needed a reference to adjust the RAW photo colors. This is device is the ticket.
I use this product for studio photography of garments.
Having a standard that can be counted on for accuracy is a must in any color managed workflow. This chart fits the bill and I have been able to calibrate the last remaining unprofiled source, my camera's sensors. Had no idea that there could be such a difference in a profiled sensor. Highly recommend for anyone serious about color management.
There is not enough info on the GretagMacBeth website on how to use this product with Adobe PhotoShop. I had to search the web for forums.
If you're shooting RAW and you need accurate color reproduction, there's no better way than using this ColorChecker!
Use ACR or any other RAW converter and match your colors to the truth.
