I was able to remove a couple of stubborn spots from my Nikon D70s easily and without damage to the sensor. I have noted, though, that there may be some confusion over the solution one should be using on the D70s. Some sources claim that only Eclipse 2 is appropriate for the type of sensor on this camera. Other sources (including this survival kit) suggest that the basic Eclipse solution is fine. In the future I will use the Eclipse 2 solution to be safe, as there are no reports that I can find of it damaging a sensor. On the other hand there are claims made by what seem to be professionals that the basic Eclipse solution should not be used on a Nikon D70s sensor, as it might cause permanent damage of the coating on the sensor. Caveat emptor!
Useful for cleaning lenses but limited use for SLR Sensor
I bought this kit to clean a dirty sensor after reading the how to on this site , i figured it seemed easy enough,so i bought this kit.
If you have about three mins of spare time you can do this yourself , who wants to pay to have thier sensor cleaned everytime when this product makes it that easy.
Best cleaner bar none
I have an older canon 20D that was litterly RIDDLED with sensor dust after 2 years of outdoor events and, unfortunately, not the best care since it was my secondary camera. I opted for this kit because of the price (i didn't want to invest in the full set of swabs and large size cleaner) to try it out. After one application my sensor was 95% clean - it took only one more pass to make it as good as new. I was so impressed I bought the second kit for my 5D. Now i have these with me whereever my shoots take me. Very easy and effective!
