Comments about Camera Armor Camera Armor Protection System, Black Color, for Nikon D300 SLR Camera Body:

I shoot sports and news for a daily newspaper. I use the camera armor on all of my cameras. When using multiple cameras on assignment, the armor protects the cameras from each other, keeps things clean, looking new, and keeps the vinyl grip on the right side of the camera in tact. The added bulk (thickness) takes a little getting used to. The rubber jacket also helps keep my fingers warm when working in cold weather. In my line of work I do not use the lens hood, base plate or lens cap keeper supplied with the kit.

A great product with one flaw. On the top of the camera the armor "hides" part of of the screen on the side and covers up the mode setting (P, M S, A etc.) You have to push it aside to see the setting. A bit annoying.

the camera armour was OUtstanding on my D70 and I expected same for D300. Evidently each camera has its challenges and the challenges for the D300 were too much to overcome.

I would not recommend this for anyone unless desperate. It is better to put your camera in a carry case than to rely on this as an always on case. I have dropped the bottom plate 2 times so far (and luckily recovered it - or my wife did) and the extension of the tripod socket has fallen off once in this short time.

More than one year after the Nikon D300 entered the market the armor finally also entered.
The good thing with this equipment is that it exists. Someone has given us SLR-bangers a thought and hence a possibility to maintain a better level on the camera's used price. Thank you!
The armor is tuff but a little bit loose at the bottom of the SLR. The attachment of the bottom piece is meager. On my first photo excursion the bottom piece fell off. Luckily I could trace back to it. It snaps on loosley to the left of the piece but is not fixed to the right end. A tripod addapter is included that compensates for the thickness of the armor, but it should be a plate type which would hold the bottom piece in place. If you use the Black Rapids camera strap it solves this problem.
There's no solution (yet?) to protect the D10 battery pack which must come to complete the armor.
The connection and memory compartment lids are not protected which they should be. Also the function buttons should be protected (which they are on the D200 version).

Stronger, more comfortable.
With D300, I feel like I am holding F5.

THis rubber is almost perfectly fitted with D300.
YOu can access to memory door and battery chamber easily.

The built in flash can be used, but just a little bit stuck with the hot shoe rubber.

However, somewhat problem when using with external flash, you have to remove the rubber from the hot shoe. the rubber somewhat interferes the viewfinder.

lens protection is somewhat useless for me. It will fit only my 50mm 1.4.
