Comments about Camera Armor Camera Armor Protection System, Black Color, for Nikon D70 /70S SLR Camera:
Last year I bought Camera Armor for my Nikon D70. This past week while on holiday in South Africa, I placed my D70 in a wall safe in our hotel room. I thought I had placed it in there securely, when I stepped away to ask my wife, if she wanted to put anything in the safe. The next thing I heard was the D70 bouncing off the hard, tiled floor from about 3½ feet off the ground. I thought this was the end for the camera. However, this was not so. Amazingly, the Camera Armor protected the camera. There was no evidence of physical damage to the camera and a few hundred photos later, the camera continues to work normally.

My camera was bumped on the carpet, and it had to be sent in for repair. The D70 is fragile, some kind of bump protection is necessary. This does the job, it makes it more difficult to turn camera on, remove the memory card and battery, but it's a worthwhile tradeoff.
The lens hood portion is not usable because with it installed I cannot fit the camera into any bag. I guess it would be useful on an extended shoot where the camera was not put into the bag between shots.

I wanted some extra protection for my D70 when I didn't want to carry my whole camera bag. This cover works well. The on/off camera switch is a little more difficult to use, but then you really don't really have to turn off the D70 to save battery, only to prevent accidental shutter release. If you are not all ready familiar with and know your camera buttons pretty well, the cover will slow up your camera manipulation a little. Comes with an LCD cover. I elected to continue to use the cover the camera came with-no problem. Cover adds a lot of "grip" to camera body...and your clothing too when you sling the camera. The lens protector/hood will come off easily if pulled on, but remains secure during normal operation. You will have to fold back the hood when shooting a lens wider than about 30mm to prevent vigenetting. Probably overpriced, but no other options at this time.
