Great Travel Bag for a Lot of Equipment

Best Uses:
Protecting Gear, Transporting Gear

Great travel bag that is carry-on freindly. Bag will not fit under seats or in overhead bins on select smaller regional jets so plan your trip carefully! Bag fits fine even with laptop in overhead bins of larger planes. Very comfortable for long hikes. Access to camera while pack is on your back is not possible.

I second that! Don't overstuff this bag.
By Lawrence C from Charlotte, NC on 3/27/2008
Pros:
Strong Construction
Cons:
Cumbersome, Interior case bulky, Uncomfortable Fit
Best Uses:
Short day trips
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast

I agree with the review about not overstuffing this bag. I took it on a trip and ended up taking out lens, second DSLR, and my laptop to be able to carry it. When fully loaded with multiple DSLR's, lenses, batteries, compact flash, 15" laptop, the interior case dug into my shoulders which made it really unconfortable when walking. I ended up taking out the interior case on my next trip which made the backpack more manageable.

I bought this bag to carry my gear on a trip to England. Going to England was OK. I had 2 Nikon D200 bodies, SB-800 Flash, Nikon 17-55, Sigma 70-200, Nikon 10.5MM Fisheye, and a Nikon 18-70. My 17" HP Pavilion laptop and charger and various other sundry "photo" items. All fit nicely into my Lowepro bag.

Coming back from England is another story! The BAA only allows one carry-on bag per passenger!

WARNING: The BAA (British Airport Authority) will require you to "fit" your carry-on bag in their carry-on bag "size" container. If your Lowepro bag is over packed with too much gear, it will violate the BAA size limitations (despite what Lowepro claims about their product compliance with airline carry-on requirements). Don't be lulled into thinking if you can fit it inside the bag you will be OK! I had to remove my laptop and a bag of personal items just to get by the size check. Why they made such a big deal about me removing my laptop is beyond me to understand. It had to come out anyway for airport security screening ("Search and Seizure" as some frequent fliers now call it!). After security, I put the laptop back inside the Lowepro bag and went on to catch my flight.

I spent way to much time looking at many brands and sizes of backpacks and determined that the CompuTrekker Plus AW was the best for me.

Just returned from a three island tour of Island and the bag was fantastic. I carried a Nikon D200, flash, 4 lens including a 70-200mm VR and lots of accessories in the pockets and there was still room for more.

They need to look at Tenba exterior pockets to make this an outstanding case. Zipper on front needs to open up this compartment more.

The problem with this backpack is you keep putting stuff inside and it gets heavy. Without the HP laptop and power cord, network cord, the weight is much better and not an issue on your back. Remove the D200 body or the 70-200 mm VR lens and it is really light.

Warning: It fits in most overhead compartments, had one small plane and it didn't fit overhead. So I placed in under the seat in front of me. On Aloha airlines with narrow leg room it would not fit between your seat and the seat in front of you but fit just fine overhead.

Overall, I would buy it again. Highly recommended.

I just received this backpack and am very impressed with the quality of construction: has so many compartments for everything! My 17 inch laptop fits perfectly into its designate storage area. There is plenty of protection for all your gear. I think it will be a great backpack for me and for anyone who travels a lot and needs to keep their gear neatly packed in one place.

I needed a bag to replace my computer bag and camera bag. This bag does both plus! The computer compartment provides adequate space for my laptop and organizer while the camera storage area accepts my camera, lenses, flash, and accessories for the camera and computer.

An added bonus, the all weather shield build into the bottom of this bag!

Works well for me
By Nathan Mann from Louisville, Ky on 9/8/2006
Pros:
Adjustable Harness, Comfortable, Easily Accessible Equipment, Lightweight, Strong Construction
Cons:
dingle-dangles
Best Uses:
Protecting Gear, Storing Gear, Transporting Gear

My son gave me this for my birthday, and I received a roller-case on fathers day. I shoot events, weddings, seniors, and more. Both are useful, but the backpack is used most. It holds 2-dSLRs, 2 flashes, several lenses, batteries, cleaner kit, chargers for dSLR and flash batteries, cellphone charger, colored gel kit for flash, bounce light modifiers for flash, collapsed hoop 5-n-1 reflector, case of memory cards... AND all the paperwork I may need for a shoot. The laptop pocket handles my laptop, charger, and mouse.

I've strapped a serious tripod on the back, but, honestly, I prefer to bring my monopod as a walking stick and just a small tripod for hikes.

The zippers and pulls have been flawless (unlike my roller camera bag's - different brand)

The straps and tie-downs tend to flop around if not in use. I need to figure how to secure them better.
