It's a great day pack system. Room for dSLR, several lenses & accessories and personal gear. Want to bring a 70-200/2.8? Take it in your lens pouch & stow it in your main compartment or attach it to the side of the pack. This is not an expedition pack, but a good day pack system. I am very happy with it and it get lots of use.

Comments about Mountainsmith Mountainsmith Borealis AT Photographic Backpack for Film & Digital SLR Cameras & 16" Laptop Computer, 1282 cu. in., Grey:

Looking for that "great" photo backpack? This isn't it. In the desert Southwest, sand easily infiltrated the interior as a result of the access design. In the Montana Rockies, rain water infiltrated the interior, through the rainfly material (good thing all the contents were "double bagged"). The padded space isn't adequate for pro DSLR, two lenses, flash without center divider removal. That also removed some of the protection. One zipper pull tab broke on day one and the angles on the lower compartment cause frequent zipper "hang-up" when opening / closing. There are 'compression' straps that help relieve stress on the closed zipper and offer protection should the zipper component suffer a total failure. If not carrying anything more than a camera (that can get wet), this pack would be fine. Considering Mountainsmith's experience in the outdoor gear industry, I found this bag a huge disappointment, for my needs.
