This is my first true camera bag and I decided to start small since I don't have much equipment to carry around. The inside of the bag is easily accessable and the outer storage pocket is nice for holding small things (batteries, remote control, memory cards, etc.) that you don't need to get to often. Inside the bag you will find easily adjustable padded "walls" and a nice top slot for your camera/lens combo. After using this for a while, I feel that this type of bag is good for transporting your camera and gear. There have been a few times when I wanted to get a quick shot of something but couldn't get the camera out of the bag quick enough to get the shot. I will also be buying a walk around cover so that when I get to where I want to go, I can pull the camera out of the Tamrac bag and keep it protected at my side. All in all an excellent and well built backpack camera case that protects equipment well and is easily used.

To small for high end SLR with extra batteries/battery packs. Shoulder strap can be secured to pack using the tripod straps making it a clean camera case. Great buy for the money!

Case is to small for upper end SLR with extra batteries/battery packs. Shoulder straps can be tied against the case using the tripod straps to make it a pure camera case. Great buy for the money.

Lots of room for large camera and accessories. I have taken it on multiple trips on a small (28 ft.) boat on rough ocean seas in the Gulf of Alaska. The padding and compartments protected everything very well. Has separate pouches for extra batteries. A very well designed backpack for large cameras and accessories. I highly recommend it.

If this backpack were just a little larger, it would meet my needs perfectly. But Tamrac's next larger size costs quite a lot more, and I didn't find any other brand of backpack with comparable value.
In the main compartment, I have a Digital Rebel, flash, and three lenses: 50mm, 18-55mm, and 100-300mm. (If you have a smaller SLR, such as a newer Digital Rebel and if your largest lens is not quite as large as my 100-300mm, this bag should be large enough for you.) I also have a variety of accessories in the pockets, both inside and out.
The backpack is built extremely well for the price. Access to your gear is not convenient at all, but everything is held quite securely. I would have awarded only 3 stars, but the value for this low price makes it a 4-star product.
I also purchased Tamrac's filter holder and medium-sized lens case. Both are easily and securely attached to the backpack and allow convenient access.
