I go this with my new Nikon D80 and zoom lens. The camera and lens fit just right. Good for carrying the camera and a few batteries, filters and other small accessories. You could get one more lens in the bag where I put my battery charger. I intend to take this on vacation.
It's light and compact. It's not a hard case, so don't expect to bang it around. If you want good protection, get a hard case.
lightweight and comfortable to carry
a very good bag for all your need
Every photographer needs camera protection while carrying your $$$ camera. It makes sense to have a camera carrying bag from the camera manufacturer. Because of the increasingly higher prices of cameras. the days of constantly having the camera hung around the neck, sometimes all day, are over.
One of the best small bags I've found. The camera cradle holds my Nikon F4 or D1X with a lens attached, plus I can carry two additional lenses in the side pockets. The elastic end pockets are great for holding sun glasses, bottles, rolled up magazines, a phone or even a small tripod. Travel tickets, address books and other paper items can be safely secured in the zippered side pocket.
Only thing I didn't like about the Slinger was the uncomfortable shoulder strap. It also made the bag very top-heavy, so if you picked it up by the strap and the flap wasn't secured your camera could tumble out onto the floor. After my first trip with the bag, I cut the strap off and replaced it with a well-padded snap-on strap, but the bag really needs to have the strap attached on the ends with buckles. It should also have a full-length pocket on the back instead of the useless waist straps and zipper compartment. That would give you a place to stash magazines, brochures, maps and other items you pick up while traveling.
I told the salesman no at first, but now I am SO glad I reconsidered!! (Thanks, Meyer!!) It is roomy enough to hold everything, without being overly big and bulky. LOVE the sling! Hangs VERY comfortably over my shoulder. LOVE that it is weatherproof too. I have kids, and weatherproof has entailed MORE than just weather at my house, and my camera and equipment stays protected.
Get the bag. When the salesman asks or recommends it...get the bag. Listen to Meyer, he knows! LOL
My Olympus E-500 with 14-45 nestles neatly with 40-150 and Fl-36 flash alongside. VERY comfortable to carry. Sufficient room for accessories. Yes, there are better, but not for [$]. One of the best feature vs. price bags on the market.
Product is not as pictured on 2/21/07. Grey is darker, bag is taller and heavier than old revision. grab handle is different. Looks like the pro version of the slinger. No where as compact. However It is still a nice bag just different.
vey good for storing my gear and for transporting it. my wife does not complain too much when I fill it and take it with us on vacation------
Better than expected. Holds digital SLR with two good size lenses. Easy to configure padded divider.
This has become my favorite bag. I use it at home to store my d50 with the 18-70 lens attached (w/hood), a nikkor 50 mm 1.4, a Tamron 70-300 (hood attached), instruction book, body caps, micro cleaning cloth, etc. Hopefully an sb400 flash will soon be in it too. If I go out wih less stuff, I'll use a smaller bag to take with me but the slinger is my primary, "take everywhere" bag. It protects my gear, and my wife does not complain too much------
This bag holds my d50, 50 1/4 af Nikkor , 18-70 Nikkor, 70-300 Tamron, instruction book, 2 or 3 filters, extra sd cards and a microfiber cleaning cloth. It will probably soon be holding an sb400 flash. I find it easy to carry and easy to get to the equipment. It fits well as a sling bag, much easier than a regular shoulder bag. I'm very happy with it.
Use as primary bag for photographic projects. And as all-purpose gear bag for trips made by plane and car.Usually have cell phone, pda, iPod and their chargers in the Slinger Bag.
This is excellent to 'sling' over your back and go bike riding to your favorite picture taking spot.
Best all-around bag for traveling light. I pack this in my rolling carry-on when I fly. Fits camera and three lenses or two plus flash. Nice ergonomics. Little tight for camera with grip, though mine does fit because the the top of the bag forms a bit at the top over the front pouch -- for the prism/flash. For a better fit when using a grip, you may want to go with the pro version. Plenty of extra room for film, filters, manuals, cards etc. I prefer bags that open away from the body, but that's a minor gripe. This bag is not AW -- your gear will get wet in heavy rain. I own quite a few bags -- find myself using this one the most.
