I have been previously using a rather small sized Lowerpro Backpack Camera Bag and I did not like the idea of laying the bag down and the whole ritual just for a single shot. I just got this bag a week now and I'm really enjoying the comfort of a shoulder bag. Trust me, the shoulder padding are real comfortable, and even heavy gears feel 'okay'.
I have a 50D camera with 17-40mm L lens always with the camera and a 580EX flash, and a 70-200mm Lens all of which fits perfectly into this bag.
But I do have some worries though.
1. The camera is rather heavy and with the camera seated with lens down (lens support the weight of camera), the camera or lens could be damaged if the bag is accidently dropped (never tested this).
2. Besides the camera padded compartment, there is no further side padding in the bag(the whole bottom is padded though), therefore my flash and 70-200 lens could be damaged if the bag took a strong side blow.
The shop that sold me the bag told me that the bag material is heavy and sturdy enough to give the necessarry protection, but my concerns stays.
Nevertheless, I still think this is a great bag and I would be using it a lot. Just have to be a bit careful. It's multi purpose function + lots of pockets make it really fantastic. Doubles also as my document/passport bag now when I travel.
Another cool thing is that it does NOT stand out as an expensive looking camera gear bag....that gives some peace of mind.

This is a really great bag. It doesn't scream that it is an expensive camera, so please steal me. Lots of pockets outside. Lots of room inside.[...]

Comments about National Geographic National Geographic Earth Explorer Medium Shoulder Attache Style Bag, Holds a Medium Digital SLR or Video Camera & Notebook with Accessories & Personal Items:
This bag did not meet my expectations. It does not hold a current size (14.1 inch screen) laptop in the laptop slot. And it can only hold the camera plus one lens in the padded sub-compartment within the bag, since the entire bag is not padded. The bag is large, bulky, and wants to be a laptop plus camera plus lens carrier. It does nothing well. Avoidable, unless you have an older, smaller Thinkpad and a SLR with very few accessories,in which case you wold not really need this large bag anyway. And it is not so well build as the photos might suggest. The strap broke the first time I took it out, the bag fell and damaged a lens [...] There are other, better bags.
