This is the case Celestron recommends for the C5+ optical tube plus single arm fork maount (what I have) and the C8 optical tube only. The case is "hell for stout" and I don't worry about my scope when it's in the case.
I now use the C5 OTA on an Orion SkyView Pro mount. The mount head and couterweight fit in the case along with my C5 OTA. It's a bit heavier than before, but still makes a reasonable package. To accommodate the new setup, I purchased a second foam set. I like the foam in the larger Pelican cases because it's much stiffer than what they (and other brands) put in their smaller cases.
I own a Celestron Nexstar 8i SCT astronomical telescope and wanted a sturdy case to give maximum protection for the telescope with a minimun amount of disassembly required to contain it for transportation. [...]The Pelican case has proved to be everything as advertised and just what I needed to safely and conveniently transport my scope whether for a short trip accoss town or hundreds of miles to distant dark locations for optimum viewing. The case is a bit heavy, but this would seem to be a given for those looking for the type of protection that it provides. Fortunately the smooth-rolling wheels greatly reduce the need to carry the case with the scope from place to place. In summary, I am very satisfied with this product with respect to function, quality of construction, and price. [...]
