I'm printing on an Epson R2880 printer which is a very good printer ($800.00) and I use only Epson paper and ink along with the epson ICC profiles. I bought this thing because I always seem to have problems with my prints not matching what I see on my monitor.The Colormunki is advertised to solve all of your printing problems. That has not been the case with me. Some images print out OK and some are too dark and some the colors are off. Even when using the Colormunki profiles, I still need to make test prints and then adjust the image to get the print to match. I do on occasion see a slight improvement in print quality using the Colormunki, but if I had to do it over again, I would not waste my money.

ColorMunki Photo is a complete solution - from raw digital image to final print - that ensures true (or as close as you can get) color rendition accuracy. It measures and calibrates your monitor, and measures and calibrates the printer and print media (using a test print that you also scan for calibration). It creates a profile for use in Photoshop using this data. Nothing is left out. The only limitations are those imposed by the actual hardware employed since color gamuts - going from camera to monitor to printer - never match perfectly and since monitor brightness cannot be sufficiently reduced on most LCD monitors. But, it gets as close to WYSIWYG as possible.

I found the tutorials very useful. The Color Munki worked and calibrated my monitor. I was very skeptical at first and really took my time studying various calibration devices. But I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of use and I can trust the colors on my monitor.

I am a collage graduated from OIPT, this is a professional photography school in Ohio. The school drilled into our heads three things: lighting, focus, and COLOR. I am highly proficient in color correcting and score aroung a 97-100 on Color IQ test.

I own both the Spyder 3 Pro and the Colormunki. I used both on the same lower end square lcd Dell 17inch monitor to to see which one would give me more accurate color. The test was that I sent the same image edited the exact same way to the same printing company, the only difference was that I corrected my color with each calibrator. I did not allow the printing company to color correct.

When I got my prints back there was a remarkable difference between the two prints, the print from Sypder was green and the print from the Colormunki was almost dead on. Even with my poor monitor the Colormunki was able to get very accurate prints.

It maybe a little pricey but the money is worth it. Color is the number 1 thing that professional photographers struggle with and it irritates me more then seeing professional advertisements that are green. This product along with a good gray card or macbeth color checker will get you accurate prints almost all the time!

This product does what it is supposed to do. The documentation/instructions are very good. It is easy to use and seems to be very accurate. My only complaint is that the dial is difficult for me to turn. It is expensive, but worth it.

It's a very simple product to use and the cd-rom included with step by step instructions is very helpful. The only thing I can't do with it is do a detailed calibration on my monitor. It freezes the computer. However, the quick calibration works fine.

I feel better about my monitor after having used it, but it really didn't change much at all. It certainly makes me feel better about printing large color photographs that eat up alot of ink and paper. I was unable to use the advanced option for the monitor because it shuts the monitor down for some reason. But the easy option is quick and effective. Included is a very good tutorial that explains exactly how to use the munki.

If I had this long ago,I would have saved a lot of paper and ink. Once you get the printer and monitor
set up,what you see is what comes out of the printer. Saves me a lot of time,paper, and ink now.

Purchased Colormunki hoping to get better prints from Lightroom. Installed CM (CM = Colormunki) on my desktop and laptop from the CM CD. CM has done away with the 3 computer limit but you still have to activate CM via the internet.

Immediately got a pop-up saying updates are available. Downloaded and installed the update. After reboots, I noticed that my task tray was missing icons for my anti-virus, firewall, backup software and others. Checked msconfig and the task tray programs were GONE. This happened on both the desktop and the laptop. I had to RESTORE both computers back to and earlier state. Reinstalled CM but this time did NOT install the update. I have all of my task tray icons. There is something wrong the the CM 1.1 update.

CM is a very invasive install. It installs it's self, Dot.net Framework, Java and who knows what else. Plus every time you run the program it calls home to x-rite. WHY do software designers have to call home after activation. I haven't found a way to turn off auto check for updates. It REQUIRES an internet connection to install.

I finally got my laptop screen calibrated and will start the desktop and printer next.

So far, I'm not very impressed.

The bottom line is that ColorMunki Photo greatly improved the color accuracy of my prints. From Photoshop (soft proofing view) to HP b9180 printer, I was able to get very close to WYSIWYG. I said close, but not perfect. As of this review, I still have too much red in the final prints as compared to my PS soft proofing view. It's not much, but it's there. The staff at ColorMunki are very responsive and willing to help but I still have that red problem after almost 3 weeks of trying everything under the sun to get things to match. Still, this device and its slightly confusing software (needs way more detailed written documentation) is worth the price and did improve the quality of my output.

This is an excellent and easy to use device that should be used by anyone who wants to make consistently high quality large prints. Over a few months time, the savings in ink and paper will pay for this device.

Initially, I hesitated making this purchase. I used to own a commercial color printing lab and did a lot of Type C prints. I am pretty serious about high print quality.

I had read some reviews that seriously trashed this product as difficult to use and unreliable. As a result, I hesitated purchasing the ColorMunki until I had no choice but to trust the excellent review of the Colormunki on the Imaging Resources web site, buy a Colormunki and hope that it did the job.

My only alternative was to buy a replacement for my old HP DesignJet 130 large format printer, which was drifting off color, no longer properly self-calibrated, and producing very marginal print quality even with updated firmware, ICC profiles, the newest drivers and constant hardware monitor calibration.

I am delighted with the vast improvement in my large format print quality after I calibrated both the monitor and the older DesignJet 130 in a single process. The calibration and profiling took some time but the results really are much better than I have ever previously achieved with this printer. Color casts that had troubled me for weeks are gone. The Colormunki print profile is easy to find and load into Adobe Lightroom 2.3's Print module.

There are a few minor issues: the printed instructions are rather confusing and the downloadable "help" videos show nothing but black screens without sound. Not much help. However, if you have even a modest knowledge of color management and take a little time, you will be able to use the Colormunki without difficulty.

One other positive point - the installation CD automatically connects to the Internet and prompts you to download the newest software. This is probably an excellent idea because early difficulties with the Colormunki may have been related to flaws in the initial software release.

I purchased this unit to replace my EyeOme monitor profile tool so I can profile my EPSON 4800, Kodak 8500 & Sony Snaplab printers. The unit is flexible, works with monitors that do not have contrast controls and is really simple to use. Printer calibration prints were easy to make and read. Works as advertised.

My only caution, this device will only work with printers that produce 8x10 prints or larger. My Sony SnapLab does 5x7 size prints and there is no way to shrink the calibration strips down to that size, so unfortunately I cannot profile my dedicated 5x7 printer. Would have been nice to know that in advance, but I love how much quicker this unit is than my EyeOne Monitor Calibrator.

I started by simple monitor calibration and wooow - it is amazing! The calibration process takes few minutes and runs mostly automatic. I was not sure how the Colormunki would hold close to the LCD screen, but it was not a problem what so ever.
Instructions are clear and the process straight forward. If you do anything wrong the screen tells you exactly what to do. One small negative comment is that if you want to hurry up the process can get into a hanging state and I had to reboot the computer to restart (using Windows XP).

Calibration of printer takes longer because it needs to calculate the printout. It worked also very straight forward after I discovered how to scan the print (instructions a little unclear about it). I am using Epson 1800 with many different kinds of paper and it improved all of the prints.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone. You can not expect better quality for this price.

This profiler produces excellent print profiles quickly and with a minimum amount of effort. In fact, the profiles I am getting are better than the standard ones provided by the manufacturer of my printer (Epson). Furthermore, the printed images among a single paper surface type (i.e. gloss, or luster, or matte) match each other almost exactly, taking into account the differences in Dmax.
The software is a little rudimentary, and definitely designed for non-experts, but it produces the results

I bought this item to use at my work. I have used x-rite calibration products in the past which worked fine. THIS DOES NOT!!! I cant tell if it calibrated my LCD screen (it doesn'T calibrate CRT monitors!-which is really dumb). Basically, the print process was a cruel joke! It creates icc profiles that are supposed to be automatically applied in Adobe (this doesn't happen. you have to find the profiles on your computer and put them in an Adobe folder and covert manually). The icc profiles DONT work!!! All prints come out dark and cyan. I have tried this multiple times, wasted lots of ink and a ton of good paper! The tech department is laughable and can't help or offer real solutions! I should have seen it from the beginning-the test sheets only print out 20 patches which can'T do anything for color accuracy. X-rite just kept telling me it was software issues with my stuff-too bad I use all of the industry standard -MAC & EPSON. Thanks for wasting my time, money, paper, ink, X-rite!
