Comments about HyperDrive Sanho HyperDrive ColorSpace 160 GB Photo Backup Storage & Viewer, Supports 18 Memory Card Formats:
Bought this for use with a new camera at work. My home comuter cannot support the advanced software so I needed something to back up media cards at home until I could download them at work later.
I've never used a device like this before so have little to compare it with. However, it works with my old Windows 98 computer without needing to download drivers, which is a big plus as I can save my photos to my home computer directly from this device even though the camera software won't work.
It seems fast enough during the backup process, but I sometimes have trouble making the command buttons connect. Don't know if it's a problem with the circuit board or if the device is just slow to recognize the commands. And I have to push the off button for a VERY long time (seems like) to turn it off. That's a bit of a pain as I sometimes release the button too soon and sit there waiting for it to turn off and it doesn't.
Basically a good little device, but the preview image is a bit too small to be practical and you have to wait for each image to resolve itself if you are viewing your pictures. That takes so long that I don't use this device to view saved images. If you have 500+ images it would take hours to preview them all and you couldn't see them any better than on your camera LCD screen anyway. It's worthless for that purpose. But I like having the proof that my images transferred and are not corrupted by looking at a few of them.
Seems like a decent device for the price range. I'm not sorry I bought it.
