Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I have only used the photo black once so having a set with just the matte black saves me from getting a photo black cartridge you may never use again.
I have still not completely used the photo black that came with the printer an I have an extra one I guess I bought from another company.
Glad they give you that option.
I only use matte papers and papers I work on top off.

The Epson 2400 requires 9 colors to have a complete set. I thought I was ordering 8 plus a matte black. Now I still need a photo black. Know want you order.
