After letting the Epson 4880 sit idle for a couple of days, you may find one or more of the nozzles plugged and have to go through several pages of tests to get it cleared up. Other than that the quality is excellent.

Comments about Epson Epson Stylus Pro 4880 17" Wide 8-Color UltraChrome K3 Printer:
After Years of using thermal Ink Jet Printers with good results, this Printer has blown me away!
I never got this kind of quality out of Prints I used to produce in my old Darkroom!
It's very easy to use and there's no complex setup involved, although it has the ability to be adjusted in any manner you wish, it's perfect right out of the Box.
The Print accuracy is 100%, with a properly calibrated Screen, what you see is what it prints.
I've produced several Prints from 8"X10" to 17"X22" and haven't had one wasted Print, flawless operation.
Take a deep breath before looking to purchase Ink because they aren't cheep, but they do produce many Prints before needing changing, I'm still on the first set after approx 50+ Prints (10 17"X22", the rest 8"X10".
Another thing, be prepared the first time you turn this thing on and load the Ink Cartridges, initial charging of the system takes ALLOT of Ink, about half the Ink will be used.
The only drawback I can see with this Printer is the fact it doesn't have a separate space for the Matte Black Cartridge, but if you never intend on printing Images on thick Matte Paper, it won't be a problem.
I've done some prints on Medium semi Matt Paper with very good results using the Photo Black Cartridge so unless you're going for something really thick and absorbent, you won't have any worries.
If you do, then make sure you have several Prints to produce because you have to purge the system (Kit included) of the Photo Black Ink which sacrifices entire contents of the old Cartridge, install the Matte Black Ink and charge the system with the new Ink before printing.
This Printer is very large so make sure you have the room for it, it's about 2~3 times the size of a regular Ink Jet Printer and weighs over 80lbs.
I'm a Photographer, not a tech whiz, and I've found it very frustrating in the digital age with other Printers because everything had to be set up and calibrated just right in order to get the results I was looking for (So many wasted test Prints & proofs), the 4880 has to be the easiest Printer I've ever used in this department.
Like I said before, with a properly calibrated Monitor which isn't hard to do at all, what you see on your Screen is what the 4880 prints.
After using the 4880, I'll never go back to thermal printers again!
