Fabulous product. Sooooo much faster than my USB reader and takes the place of my card reader on my old Mac Powerbook G4. I am using it on a new MacBook Pro and connecting to the 800 firewire port....it screams....

This is a great product. even with the non udma cheap cards it read and transfered them about twice as fast as my usb 2 reader. and it is extremely fast with the lexar udma compact flash cards. about the only con i have found is that you have to hold the card reader and use a little force to get the card to go in alll the way and when you press the eject button the card just barely pops out far enough for you to pull it the rest of the way out. and so far it has worked flawlessly on mac pro via firewire 800

I use this card reader to download my 4K HD Video from RED ONE Camera on 8 Gig Lexar CF Cards. It does an amazing job of handling the information in a speedy fashion. It will download a full card in less than 3 minutes.

Only drawback to reader is that the insertion of cards is a bit tentative. Not very positive seating.

Fastest way to get images from CF to PC
By IanVerified Purchaser from Setauket, NY on 1/21/2008
Pros:
Fastest Speed, Stackable
Best Uses:
Cameras, Reading large CF cards
Describe Yourself:
Multimedia Professional
Primary use:
Business
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

For reading CF cards, this is the best reader I've used. It is extremely fast and multiple units stack very nicely right on top of one another.

For those not familiar with Firewire 800 ports, they are NOT the same as a standard Firewire port. For most PC's, you'll need to add a Firewire 800 adapter card to uses this reader. However, if you use large capacity CF cards the speed difference with this reader is significant and definitely worth it.

I love this product. I was using a USB reader and this is soooo much faster. I am a wedding photog so I'm downloading about 2000 images in a day. Of that 2000 there is usually 1 or 2 shots that get corrupted (I guess because the transfer is so fast.) So I double check and redownload those shots. Its worth it for all the time it saves me.

Coupled with the new 300x cards this reader has cut my 8gig card download time from 16 to 4 minutes! I didn't think it would be a huge upgrade since I often walk away from my computer during downloads but I can now just surt the web for a a minute then get back to work! Awesome!
