The exterior has a feel of cheap plastic toy you can buy at a discount store. The unit worked fine when I received it but having enough CF cards, I haven't used it for the past few months. Yesterday, a week before leaving for a trip to Asia, I charged batteries and tested the unit: "HD failure" error came up. I was able to upload/download files for a moment but half o the LCD screen is dead. I do not trust it for the trip. Have 5 days to buy a replacement.

I bought the Wolverine FlashPac 10gig to download photos without having to carry or set up my laptop while traveling in Latin America.
I'm headed to Honduras this week and expect to shoot nearly 100 gigs of raw files and save them on the FlashPac as well as a second external hard drive for backup.
It has performed flawlessly during initial tests for the past several weeks.
It is slower than I expected, but not terribly so. It also can only copy about 6 gigs of information before the battery is exhausted.
Fortunately, it can be powered through my laptop via two USB connections as well as with the supplied battery charger. It takes several hours to charge the battery, even if only partially depleted.
I also like the fact that it can be used as a card reader when connected to my computer.
It seems durable enough, but I found it best not to move the unit at all while it is downloading, which will cause it hang up.
