This has been one of the smartest investments I made. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is I cannot upload to it while it is connected to my computer, which is really not a big deal with the fire wire plug.
I ordered this product because the Jobo and Epson were sold out at the time and badly needed a portable transfer/storage device. After the disappointment of unboxing this thing to find out it was a light weight, flimsy, plastic toy, i decided to charge it and give it a run hoping that it's usefullness would make up for its cheap construction. I was disappointed further to find out that the navigation was poorly designed also. I immediately returned this item and will never purchase another product from this company again. I highly recommend if this is the only device of this type within your budget, don't buy it, save for the Jobo or Epson make of this similar device.
It's a good idea, and the overall implementation isn't bad. The main problem I have with this unit is that the battery life is really short for my purposes. I can only transfer between 2GB and 3GB from media into the device on a full, fresh battery charge. That'd be OK, except I got it because I often shoot 8-10GB per day (RAW) when I'm doing an event. Since I have to have this thing tethered to AC power, I might as well take the laptop along, and it has a DVD burner, too. So, if you're only shooting a couple of GB of images between times near an AC outlet, this device is great. For a high-volume shooter, though, it definitely leaves some winnings on the table.

The idea of a battery operated backup for your photos is an excellent one. In practice, the system is slow and unreliable. Indeed, the device shorted out randomnly. I used it only sparingly.
