I owned a model 1270 for many years. This was a replacement for it. Good quality photo prints up to large sizes.
Right out of the box, quick to setup, install drivers and your ready to print great looking mid-sized photos. Black & White printing just got bumped to a higher level with dedicated monochrome inksets. I may miss the hours spent in the dark for 1 good print. Maybe not.
Using the 1280 for the past three years and it just keeps on doing a great job. Heavy use, and like a Timex "it keeps on ticking. Great for my photograpic avocation. I've sold a few images, and the customers are "wowed" by the resolution and real life colors. I created a six image "stitched" 180-deg. landscape of the North Harbor, Grand Manan Island, NB, Canada... 13"X44" and wow.

For the price, I cannot believe another printer could significantly exceed the 1280

Have printed over 100 8x10" color images for convention facilty marketing department. Still kicks out a great long lasting product. Never had to calibrate colors, never had to service it.
Only downside is that a full set of new cartidges (B&W plus a color) costs $[...]; premium paper can be bought generic bulk to save costs. The best value printer around.
Use in conjunction with a Canon Powershot G3, Adobe Photoshop and a Mac G4. Fabulous.
