No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I purchased this item as an inexpensive way to convert 35mm slides to digital. There is nothing in place to lock the glass in place. Lighting may be corrected to 5000k, however it is uneven and not well distributed over the glass. Bottom line it did what I needed it to with reservations. Look before you buy if this is what your intended purpose is.
