My results ecco the ones describes here already. The reels are poorly constructed and do not have the right size for the film they're made for. They do not grip the film and even in daylight it is impossible to get a roll on one of them.I bought two reels and they were both like this.I'll buy plastic reels next time. And here I was getting steel because I thought it would be the better quality choice.I'd return this item if it cost more. [...]

I bought one reel, and it's not even the right size. I'm not talking about film size either. The reel spirals are about 1mm too wide to even begin to hold the film. I had to put it in a vise to get it to partially hold the inner half of the film. It might work, if I spend some time with it in the shop and get it to the dimensions it needs to be, or take it apart and rebuild it. But I shouldn't, not right out of the box. I can't even check-off inconsistent results, because there are none. Spend a little more for a better product or go with a plastic kit.

Unfortunately, these are nearly impossible to use. I've been completely unsuccessful in rolling film on either of my two reels even under lights. Having successfully practiced with several other brands of stainless steel reels, I feel confident that the problem lies in their construction rather than my skill. They appear warped in places, and do not hold the film snugly – it's constantly slipping out of the tracks. The price is alluring, but the frustration isn't worth it. I will not be developing with these.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Stainless Steel Film Developing Reel For 35mm Size Film:
SS reels are notoriously fickle compared to their plastic counterparts but these take it to a whole new level. I am typing this review with blisters on each thumb from loading two rolls onto these reels.
I learned on SS reels in high school but these are inexplicably difficult to work with. This is about the tenth time I have gotten blisters from coaxing the film onto these reels and now I'm going to look elsewhere. I think plastic reels will do just fine.

Comments about Adorama Adorama Stainless Steel Film Developing Reel For 35mm Size Film:
I ordered 2 reels along with many other items, and these are the only things I have a complaints about. They seem to be very poorly constructed. Both reels were sharp where the metal ended. The clip on one of them did not hold the film tight so it kept slipping out, the other was okay. Also, they both arrived slightly bent, so it makes for a difficult time rolling the film (even in light).
