Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I'm amateur and have no basis for comparison, but this product worked well for me on my Sony DSC-R1. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to my own lack of experience. I used it to convert slides to digital images, and plan to also use it for macro nature photography. I used the +4 filter on the slides and it did very well.
