Comments about Tiffen Tiffen 67mm 8x (0.9) Neutral Density Glass Filter:

This filter works just like a pair of dark sunglasses for your lens allowing you to slow down your exposure time and or using a larger aperture to get correct exposure. great for purposefully blurring images on sunny days.

Comments about Tiffen Tiffen 67mm 8x (0.9) Neutral Density Glass Filter:

I use this lens when shooting water to slow the motion down and general landscape photography at the beaches, lakes and rivers and it works absolutely fabulous. For the price, I dont think it can be beat. As an owner of an $800 dollar camera who is an enthusiastic amateur just starting to sell prints I cannot justify large amounts of money of filters right now. However, after purchasing this I cannot justify spending large amounts of money on a single filter in the futures.

Comments about Tiffen Tiffen 67mm 8x (0.9) Neutral Density Glass Filter:

Standard Tiffen quality, which means good value for the price. This filter allows you to expose 3 stops longer period at a given f-stop and ISO rating. These three stops allow the photographer to use a shutter speed of say 1 second instead of 1/8th second.

As with any filter, they must be used singly. If you have a UV filter over your lens for dust and protection purposes, you should remove it to get the maximum resolution of this filter and to reduce any chances of ghosting between the filters. Another caution is your viewfinder will be 3 stops darker too, so pay close attention to see ghosting and make sure no light is falling directing on the front of the lens when exposing.

No photographer who already owns a tripod and cable release should be without at least one of these in their camera bag.

Comments about Tiffen Tiffen 67mm 8x (0.9) Neutral Density Glass Filter:

Not a bad choice at all.

The overall quality is very good, the construction very solid and the mount is firm.

The optics are clear but however, the filter is prone to flare, reflections and ghosting, which can be a problem in certain situations.

But considering the very low price, this is still a product I would recommend if you're not looking for the pro-level stuff.
