I use the polarizer mainly for nature photography.
It reduces glare or reflections from leaves and wet rocks effectively and enhances clouds in distant landscape shots.

Comments about Hoya Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

I have achieved excellent results with respect to cancellation of reflections off glass surfaces as well as rendition of blue skies. I tested the quality and efficiency of the polarizer coating by crossing with a sumitomo brand optical polarizer and achieved near-100% light cancellation.

Comments about Hoya Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

This filter is a good value for the price, but it's not the finest polarizer I've ever used. This is an area where spending top dollar really does make a difference. That said, do you really need to spend top dollar to get what you NEED? If you're anything like me, and I know I am, I'm happy to use this mid-range filter to get the shots I want. If I were a pro getting paid for my work then I would step up to a better one. The rotating part is a bit narrow and like all polarizers it can sometimes be fiddly to attach and remove. I prefer a larger rotating ring, perhaps with a tactile bump or divot so I can feel where the line is without having to look. I know people will say that a taller filter will interfere with the image but be honest, when's the last time you had 3 or 4 filters stacked up?

Comments about Hoya Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

I own several Hoya filters. I purchased the CPS filter to use on my Nikon 50 mm F1.4 lens for glare reduction and as a lens protector. The filter functioned exactly as expected reducing the glare on indoor shots. In landscape photography I was able to saturate the blue colors of the sky to a nice deep hue negating post production manipulation. I plan to purchase a second CPS for my telephoto lens

By DjembeSmithVerified Purchaser from Lancaster, PA on 1/11/2010

Comments about Hoya Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

This is a must have filter for digital photographers. Primarily because the effect it performs can not be duplicated in post-processing.
The only possible con I noticed... since the outer ring must be turned to adjust levels, sometimes you inadvertently unscrew the filter from the lens.

Comments about Hoya Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

I'm a new photo enthusiast, so it could well be that I'm doing something wrong, but I had difficulty keeping the filter on the lens. After I put in on, I would pull straight back to make sure it was secure, but somehow it ended up in the leaves several times. I barely rescued it from falling in a creek.

Comments about Hoya Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

This Hoya polarizing filter has very good constructed quality. You can feel the build quality when screwing it on your lens. It's very tight and firm. The polarizing result is obvious. It filters the reflection and let the original color reveal very well. The best practise is to use it to shoot the mountains in very far distance. It preserves the color of sky and mountain very well. Recommmended!

Good Filter needs to be a little better

Comments about Hoya Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer Glass Filter:

Found the filter to be good but could use a little more umf, when it comes to color rendition and consistent results. The filter could be improved to cut more of the uv out and making the color more consistent.
