Comments about Hoya Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer HD Hardened Glass 8-layer Multi-Coated Filter:
Although this is a very thin lens there is still a slight bit of vignetting at the widest degree (24mm in this case) but otherwise I think it was a good investment.

Comments about Hoya Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer HD Hardened Glass 8-layer Multi-Coated Filter:
I had recently purchased a Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 and needed new filters for the 77mm size of this lens and my Tokina 12-24. After shelling out that kind of money for a lens I wanted to get the best filters I could afford. I've used many Hoyas over the years and have always been impressed with their quality. This one is no exception. The construction quality is superb and is much thinner than other polarizers I've used. Though I've not logged much time with it yet, the images seem very crisp and clear and more nuetral than others I've tried.
This filter along with the new Tiffen HT ND's will cover most of my bases when shooting outdoors.
Bottom line: Get it if you can afford it!

Comments about Hoya Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer HD Hardened Glass 8-layer Multi-Coated Filter:
I bought this filter after having disliked the Pro1 series from Hoya because of the difficult getting them perfectly clean. The HD series solves that problem. Most marks can be wiped away with any cloth with little effort. Corners can be cleaner up later.
The filter mount is very thin lending itself to work well on wide angle lenses. The rotation is smooth and feels very high quality.
I love the HD series so much I wish they offered them in ND filters as well!
