Comments about B + W B + W 62mm UV (Ultra Violet) Haze Multi Coated (2C) Glass Filter #010:
purchased an oly 8mm-180mm lens and ordered a Tiffen filter for it. The Tiffen filter although a good filter (I have other Tiffen filters) did not let me put the lens cap on the filter. Since I do have mostly B+W filters I ordered this one for protection and was not disapointed in its quality and construction.

Why use inferior optics on a superior lens? These have been consistently perfect for years and are now easier to clean. Each time I buy a lens, I buy one of these. The cheapest insurance for the front element that doesn't negatively effect performance. In fact, the slight warming is pleasing.

A B&W filter saved an expensive lens when I slipped on a wet rock in the rainforest in Costa Rica and the camera slammed into the rock -- the filter glass cracked, but the brass ring prevented damage to lens. I'm pretty sure a weaker aluminum ring would have bent and resulted in damage to the lens.
