Comments about Canon Canon 77mm UV (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter:

UVs are UVs. For 95% of my photography I don't see much advantage but in terms of protection and clear imagery a UV is a necessity.

I previously purchased a Tiffen for less cost but can't see any discernalbe difference.

Comments about Canon Canon 77mm UV (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter:

I bought this to protect my 200-400L lens and it's fine for this perfect. I sometimes take it off if I'm taking pictures of whole game but I feel better knowing it's in front of the lens. I don't like taking pictures with it on but I have done it and can see no degradation of picture quality. It does what I bought it for and that's all I can ask. A good Canon product.

Perfect for general lens protection and UV filtration. It is not a Canon "Sharp Cut" glass. Canon discontinued this filter and is hard to find. This filter will allow you to place the lens cap over the lens.

Not L-39 Sharp Cut Lens
By AC from Las Vegas, NV on 3/15/2008
Cons:
Misleading
Best Uses:
Lens Protection, UV Protection
Describe Yourself:
Professional

Comments about Canon Canon 77mm UV (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter:

Be careful when you purchase this item. The description states that the filter is a sharp cut filter which in fact is not. These filters were discontinued by Canon a few years ago and are hard to come by. As I did, you'll be receiving the ordinary UV filter. The sharp cut filter is thinner and has better glass. Its made with stronger materials and worth the extra price if you can find it. Just a word of caution.

Comments about Canon Canon 77mm UV (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter:

The Canon 77mm UV (Ultra Violet) Glass Filter (L-39 Sharp Cut) by Canon feels very high quality. Fits perfectly on my Canon 77mm Lens. No scratches or smear on the filter. My Canon 30D-shoot pictures just fine with no focus issue. The lens cap will snaps on top of the Canon’s filter for more protection.

Overall, this filter does what it was designed to do. It fit on the Canon lense well and the Canon lense cap fit into the filter well. (Which is a nice touch.) Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.
