I purchased this to protect a Nikon 18-105 lens. By the 3rd use, 2 permanent and large scratches were already on the filter, rendering it useless.

For this price, I would expect better materials that would hold up under very reasonable conditions & use. Disappointing.

Perfect! It doesn't get any better.

I bought this filter becaues of my previous purcahse experience. When I bought a lens, I bought Adorama set. It contains 77mm ultra thin Tiffen filter. The Tiffen filter cannot capture the lens cap. I regretted a lot I bought the Tiffen filter. Therefore this time I bought the HOYA filter. This filter is also thin but it can capture the lens cap correctly.

The multi-coated glass is a must for high-end lenses on digital cameras.
The Hoya UV is excellent. Nikon and B&W are also excellent choices.
