This filter came in a Sigma lens kit from Adorama for only 1 cent more than the lens price by itself. The construction is fine; I have no problems. It protects the lens glass like it is supposed to. Normally I would by a Hoya SMC but figured I would give this a try for a penny. I'm satisfied at this point.

this product had a gap between the ring and the glass, the glass was not clear and I wouldn't put this in front of any lens no matter how cheap the lens is. Buy a Hoya and do it right the first time.

This came with a lens I ordered - it has a solid ring, but the glass rattles around in it. When mounted, I loose a lot of picture quality.
It's good for protection, built like a tank - I will use it when on the beach to protect from wind blown sand and salt, but remove it everywhere else.

I purchased this filter for my Tamron 200-500mm telephoto. The filter stays on the lens and protects it. I do shoot at higher altitudes, so the UV protection also comes in handy.
All of my Tiffen filters work as advertised. Very stable, very realiable company.

I have used this filter on a lens I've used only twice to date, shooting wildlife in bright light on a Sigma 50-500 lens. It has worked fine. I like the fact that the Sigma lens cap remains effectively tight over the filter. This isn't always the case with filters!

I purchased the Tiffen 86mm UV filter primarily for lens protection. I have other UV filters for other lens but they are thin and do not have enough surface area to get a firm grip when installing or removing. The Tiffen 86mm UV filter is huge. Plus, it is mounted in a large metal cylinder, which has a serated edge on the top ridge, thereby making it easier to get a firm grip. I love it. It's a solid product.

I like the solid construction. Plus, Ilike the fact that there is a large side to handle when installing or removing the filter. Additionally, the top edge is serated thus allowing even a firmer girp.

My sole intent for this purchase was to protect my Sigma 50-500mm lens. This filter does the job just fine. I was slightly disappointed that it didn't come in some sort of case, it ships in a Tiffen box with a ziploc bag. Not a big deal, though.
