Still getting to know this product. The construction is solid. The paper that comes with it is more narrow than I would like, but the stand does expand to hold wider paper so I can upgrade the paper later.

Use for still life and pet portraits. It is a good value for the money because it is relatively sturdy and breaks down well for carrying in the supplied bag.

Savage is right.
By SkoberMochaVerified Purchaser from Ripon, ca on 8/6/2008
Cons:
Flimsy
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The actual stands are good, but fill a little cheap. The crossbar is extremly flimsy. It bowed quite a bit when extend all the way and using the supplied roll of paper. Also the roll of white paper came pretty tore up in the starting edge. I recommend for a cheap solution. It will do what it is supposed to.

It's good, but almost great!
By lmacnitVerified Purchaser from Victor, NY on 7/23/2008
Pros:
Compact, Ease of use
Cons:
Hard to Level Stands
Best Uses:
Easily Moved

I use the system in a small studio, and it shares space with a bottom illuminated table for our product shots. This would be perfect if there were index marks on the stands to make it easier to level and if you provided clips to prevent the paper from unwinding.

I was able to change the height quickly from a sitting baby to her standing sister. I used some printed fleece for a cute holiday background then snapped up quality poster-board for a different look; with clamps from the dollar store. It is very adaptive.

Great for on location shots
By Photographer on the GoVerified Purchaser from Lake Charles, LA on 2/21/2008
Pros:
Durable, Easy assembly, Easy to transport
Cons:
blows over in strong wind
Best Uses:
General Use, On-location photography, Outdoors
Describe Yourself:
Professional
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We provide on location pet photography. So far we have been pleased with this product. It is very portable and assembles easily. The only problem we have encountered at this point is the stand easily blows over in windy conditions. We had weights available and used them. You need to have a way to weight these stands down, or a tie down available.

Economical and Portable
By SaralondeVerified Purchaser from PA on 2/21/2008
Pros:
Easy assembly, Good value, Portable, Versatile
Best Uses:
Indoors, Studio
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My photography has advanced enough that I felt I needed a better background for indoor portraits. Not being a professional, I didn't want to spend a great deal. I was a little worried that the relatively inexpensive price would get me something flimsy or not very adjustable. It turned out to be very sturdy and easy to set up. Definitely versatile: the 2 side stands can be used as light stands and it can expand by width and height.
Not sure if this would be good for a pro, but for an enthusiastic amateur, it's a great buy.

I purchased this portable stand based on the great reviews[...]. I used it for my sister-in-law's 18th birthday party mostly as a nice background filler and fun shots for the kids. It was light to carry and very easy to set-up. I love the telescoping top bar which made it VERY EASY to adjust the width of my white muslin. I ended up not using the seamless roll, but look forward to using it in my home studio. Set-Up and breakdown took about 10-15 each. The stands were strong and the telescoping top bar is a nice feature. Keep in mind that this is a PORTABLE stand, so don't expect to be hanging multiple rolls of paper on it. One roll or one muslin is the max. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for a portable unit.
