Still getting to know this product. The construction is solid. The paper that comes with it is more narrow than I would like, but the stand does expand to hold wider paper so I can upgrade the paper later.
Use for still life and pet portraits. It is a good value for the money because it is relatively sturdy and breaks down well for carrying in the supplied bag.
The actual stands are good, but fill a little cheap. The crossbar is extremly flimsy. It bowed quite a bit when extend all the way and using the supplied roll of paper. Also the roll of white paper came pretty tore up in the starting edge. I recommend for a cheap solution. It will do what it is supposed to.
I use the system in a small studio, and it shares space with a bottom illuminated table for our product shots. This would be perfect if there were index marks on the stands to make it easier to level and if you provided clips to prevent the paper from unwinding.
This product is great for using as a seamless paper setup somewhere that you have limited space and cannot afford to have a stand set up at all times.
It is quick to be put together and quick to take down. Great product!
The Port-A-Stand is very easy to set up by myself and very easy to take down by myself. It is also very lightweight so its easy to carry around. When stowed in its carry case it is very compact so it easily fit into my Mustang's trunk which is a big plus!!!
I was able to change the height quickly from a sitting baby to her standing sister. I used some printed fleece for a cute holiday background then snapped up quality poster-board for a different look; with clamps from the dollar store. It is very adaptive.
We provide on location pet photography. So far we have been pleased with this product. It is very portable and assembles easily. The only problem we have encountered at this point is the stand easily blows over in windy conditions. We had weights available and used them. You need to have a way to weight these stands down, or a tie down available.
My photography has advanced enough that I felt I needed a better background for indoor portraits. Not being a professional, I didn't want to spend a great deal. I was a little worried that the relatively inexpensive price would get me something flimsy or not very adjustable. It turned out to be very sturdy and easy to set up. Definitely versatile: the 2 side stands can be used as light stands and it can expand by width and height.
Not sure if this would be good for a pro, but for an enthusiastic amateur, it's a great buy.
This is a nice unit. Easy to put up and take down. I use it mostly for portraits and larger stills.
This product was much nicer than I had expected. It fit my needs exactly and
was of a price that was within my budget.
The stands are very sturdy and adjust easily. The top bar extends without drooping and when set up it is very stable. Amazing quality especially at this low price.
I appreciate being able to set the unit up quickly. There are occations when engineering or the add department need a photo of one of our products right away. I am able to set up the Port-A-Stand, shoot the photographs, do my thing on my laptop, and have the digital results needed ASAP.
Using this product has saved me time.
Good price
I was very impressed with the quality of this product. It is easy to set up and use, and yet retains enough durability that one can hang any appropriate backdrop from the cross bar, without concern it will bend or distort.
I find this stand to be very sturdy... I even tried hanging some heavy upholstery fabric on it and no probs... Very easy to put up.
I was very pleased when I received the stand. For the price, this stand is alot of bang for the buck. It is sturdy and easily adjustable. The stand easily meets my needs and will meet the need of the type of person who is expanding into the area of background oriented photography. A great buy in my opinion.
Our product shots turned out much better than expected as we shoot in a warehouse.
I purchased this portable stand based on the great reviews[...]. I used it for my sister-in-law's 18th birthday party mostly as a nice background filler and fun shots for the kids. It was light to carry and very easy to set-up. I love the telescoping top bar which made it VERY EASY to adjust the width of my white muslin. I ended up not using the seamless roll, but look forward to using it in my home studio. Set-Up and breakdown took about 10-15 each. The stands were strong and the telescoping top bar is a nice feature. Keep in mind that this is a PORTABLE stand, so don't expect to be hanging multiple rolls of paper on it. One roll or one muslin is the max. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for a portable unit.
It has been a big help and I plan on ordering more paper in more colors!
I love my Savage Port-A-Stand. I do a lot of event photography (proms, homecomings, dance recitals, etc.), and I take it to everything I do. It is easy and fast to set up and break down. It is sturdy. It is very lightweight. It comes in a great carrying case. I love it!
it was everything that i need it for my in-house photo studio. Sometimes i use it to shoot on location but it feels a little heavy once in a while.
Product has worked well for me. I'm not crazy about the paper backdrop, but the stand is great. Good size.
Makes a good background for still photos. Easy to set up and highly portable. Comes with a nice carry bag too. Not as wide as I would have liked but plenty tall and highly adjustable. Holds up to continous use.
I wanted a lightweight, portable background stand to take with me on photo shoots. This one meets all my expectations and is perfect for what I need it for. It is easy and quick to set up, and it is equally easy to take down and carry with me. At the same time it is sturdy enough that I know it is up to the task.
