I bought this direct from Expo Imaging when it was still [$]. I have used it hundreds of times for portraits and weddings. I also have the Fong system but I never use it anymore since getting the Rayflash. This is much nicer lighting for portraits and it gives a very nice catchlight in eyes. You lose 1 stop when using it but that is easy to adjust for on the flash itself.

Works great for on axis fill, especially if you are with in 8 feet of your subject. If your planning to use it as a key light, you're going to be disappointed beyond 4 or 5 feet. You may be disappointed at any distance. If you think you're going to get a high fashion ring light look from a speed light adapter, your mistaken. However, I'm using it as a fill light for product and food photography and I absolutely love the look it is giving me. The construction appears a bit shaky. The pressure plate that secures it to the flash popped out of its seating, but it went back in with no problem. It's a great product for specific purposes. Maybe they should have called it the Ray Flash Close-Up and Fill Light.

was given as a gift(couldnt return it!) when it was in the 300 dollar range, used it with Nikon sb800 and its no different than using the white diffuser that came with flash.
causes shadows, hot spots, and takes up far too much room for what it does. is does not work well at all, should NOT be called or grouped with Ring Flashes. save up for a true ring flash and dont waste your money. its a scam and a gimmick and for a fraction of the price one can buy an array of diffusers that do much better.

I love this little gadget. It gives a beautiful wrap around light for a glamour feel. also makes a nice fill light. Very easy to put on & off. Still can make use of ettl flash output. A little on the spendy side.
