This is an excellent product. I have used and installed hundreds of these MKZ's as I use them with my product. They are well made and worth the cost.

Note: I know of the problem the gentleman had with the MKZ and the slit. There is only one answer. If he had to slit the MKZ3, he didn't get an MKZ3. Someone dropped an MKZ2 on him, either a return or bought on eBay...happens a lot, I get to fix them for people. He had it's predecessor the MKZ2 which did not have the center slit for the newer SB800. It only fit the older SB series. The slit was the difference.

Good Product for SB-800
By NikonShooterVerified Reviewer from Toronto on 9/5/2006
Pros:
Convenient Interface, Reliable
Cons:
Cord is too long

I am not sure what problems Danny had with his unit, but I have had no problems with mine. I removed the SB-800 door, slid it into the battery compartment and tightened it with included plastic device that is attached to the cord. You can't use the SB-800 door but that shouldn't matter. Great power and more consistent flash output with this cord and a +1 battery.

Not meant for SB-800 flash.
By Danny the PhotographerVerified Reviewer from South Plainfield, New Jersey on 8/2/2006
Pros:
Reliable, Strong Construction
Cons:
Not properly designed
Best Uses:
Fill Flash, Lighting, Night Photography, Photography, Photojournalism, Sports Photography

I bought this cord in order to connect my Quantum 1+ Battery to my Nikon SB-800. The battery interface does not fit in the SB-800. I had to modify mine (thus voiding warranty)by sawing slits so it can fit into the battery compartment.

Modifying it was easy, but it is difficult to insert and remove from flash unit. Look into Quantum's 2x2 if you are buying this for a Nikon Flash SB-800.

The good side of it is that you sav alot of money modifying it yourself. Your only modifying the cord which costs $40. It can be replaced.
