it saves batteries, is extremely light, and will really help with casual flash portraits and fill for pro portraiture.
This is the best light difuser I'have tried. I own a Lightsphere, stofens and lumiquest, but this one gives the best light, is the most simple to use, reliable and my batteries last longer.

First, this is designed ONLY for flash units with tilt AND swivel heads. It works much like Gary Fong's lightshpere (which I also own)in that you swivel the head 90degrees and you can then shoot effective bounce flash in both horizontal and vertical without needing a strobo flipper thingy.
The problem with the lightsphere is that the light goes everywhere while the shell doesn't lose light behind you. This gives you more flash range and less battery drain. Both give you a nicely diffused light with lightsphere just slightly better. Lightsphere is also a little easier to get on and off the flash, but it also comes off easier when you don't want it to. Take your choice, but the Shell definitely comes into its own when you've got distance to cover.
