I wanted to get my flash off-camera for macro photography. This bracket does that easily. I was very impressed with the quality of construction. The ball-head easily supports the weight of 430EX flash + diffuser, and at the same time provides a way of moving the flash in any direction.

Not just for macro, because of the ability to quickly change position of the flash via the ball-head, you could use it for portrait work.

Bigger than I expected, very strong, although the tiny screw on the ball head could of been made a bit better.

The ballhead allows you to tilt the head 90 degrees, so you can use it as a sort of flip bracket.
