Drive the stake in and you have a rock solid third hand for macro work. This is especially helpful when photographing flowers (and the like) when a small aperture is needed for DOF, hence a longer shutter speed. The slightest little breeze won't be so devastating.
Lastly, bring a hand clamp of your own and it easily attaches to your tripod like the other model.
