Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
This is money well spent for anyone wanting to learn studio flash. The unit fires every time and it is powerful...use of a light meter will take out the guesswork. One light is all I own and with hot shoe flash...all I need right now. If I had one "complaint" it would be that the assembly instructions were sketchy, but most anyone can put it together without difficulty. [...] I will purchase more of these when the time is right!

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
Remote sensor does not work at all in average lighted rooms. However because it does work in dimmed environment there is a great solution. Place any type of small cover over it (covering say 50% or so). this may be a small translucent cap or a small bent piece of cardboard 1x1 in. square or so and presto:Problem solved !
However in the future the problem should be solved at the factory as this may cause several unnecessary returns by customers.
First of all, users may not find out the problem right away...or find out the hard way.... And they may not figure out the solution or even want to deal with it or accept it. But other than that, this is a great unit for the price. (I have more expensive heavier units and wanted a lighter one.)

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
This is my second unit and I'm going for a third more powerful one. It's tried and tested enough for me to outfit with a full set. I still cant believe the price. Since I'm overseas I'll buy one just to put up as backup.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
I have a few different brands of monolights i've picked up over the years. I prefer these to my alien bees. The flashpoint 2 has great build quality. They are more consistent than the cheap [*] strobes you find on the auction sites. They are a quality product at a good value.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
I bought one when they first came out and the umbrella holder was weak. They have now added a set screw to hold the umbrella. The first one required you to remove the bulb to put the protective cover on, the newer one has a long enough cover. Works fine for general use with digital cameras and 200 rating. I love the ability to dial the power up or down. 150 watt secconds is enough for most uses, if not get the more powerfull one. I use them several times a month, if your income depended on them I would spend more for allien bees or somthing more durable. I will not wear them out in limited use for many years. For us ten million semi-pros cant be beat. I have two may buy a third one that is more powerfull for really big groups Charles L. Mims old guy still trying to learn.

I use this for portable head and shoulders and couple shots at events. I am going to get another one to match the one I have. The basic unit has more than enough power for light commercial use. I really like the varible output on a dial. I was not expecting this much quality for [$]. Charles L Mims

I got the 320a last week. Overall it is a great buy. I would like a bit more power but I bought this to see if it would be suitable.
I will be purchasing the 300Ws model and use this as a hair light or background. Awesome deal. The colour is good the charge time is great one small niggle I'd like to see:
2) the flashtube protector could be deeper so that it protected the light bulb too.
Again a small thing. I would not hesitate to buy these again.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
This is my first monolight as I'm learning portrait photography with an in-home studio. So far I have a number of casual portraits of my wife and daughter using this monolight anda reflector, and they have turned out very well. I wasn't sure if this would be enough light output by itself for portraits, but you might be surprised what can be done. The slave flash has worked every time, and the colors have turned out pretty good. Could probably get a little better color from a better umbrella, but for the cost I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal. I haven't been disappointed.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
I have used Broncolor, hensel, bowens, profoto, white lightning, many have said to me it is the quality of the light that counts and it only comes from expensive equipment.I , however believe that if you power a light down , you will get the best color temp and most pleasing light from any light .Do this with the Flashpoint. Take care on location with any monolight , powerpack, the hot sun will challenge even the most expensive fan cooled light, and damage may not even be noticeable.Care is the key to endurance to any professional or regular shooter.
The value from this light is outstanding, and i know i will get continued use from this light.

I CONSIDER MYSELF PHOTO ENTHUSIAST. HOWEVER, THIS PRODUCT TAKES YOUR PHOTOS TO THE NEXT LEVEL. PORTABLE, LIGHT, EASY SET UP, WEDDINGS, PORTRAIT WORK. I WILL PURCHASE THE 620 NEXT AND WILL SAVE UP FOR THE ONE ABOVE THAT. VERY PLEASED WITH THE UMBRELLA, AND STAND. NICE KIT.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
I bought this as my fill light to compliment my Flashpoint 620 I already have. Working from a small apartment studio this has more than enough power. I love the price and the difference it has made with my portraits. Stand is a little less than desired; however, it has yet to be a problem. By using mine only indoors it should last quite some time.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
I was checking reviews of a lot of strobes and these for the price really stand out.Fits my needs perfectly.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
I bought three of these strobes and was very impressed with the output. Almost as good as some of my pricier lights. This is definitely worth the money.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
This way exceeded my expectations. The build quality is very good for a monolight at this price. Even the dial has a nice smooth notched turn to it. I still expect it to conk out any day now but it really works well with consistent temp's. It also recycles very fast. I will be getting another one.

I purchased this one and the 620A light also. I'm very pleased with this light even though I have only used them once. It is a very sturdy and solid built unit. I plan on purchasing another one.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
I've shot several hundred photos with the 320A so far both tethered and using the optical slave function. The 320A has worked as expected every single time.
The mount (to attach it to the stand) feels a little "cheap" due to being made from stamped sheet metal and some type of synthetic material (plastic.) But, it has never failed in any way to work and clamps on the stand securely. The way the reflector and accessories attach is a course interrupted thread secured by a captive spring pin. To remove the reflector depress the spring pin, then turn the reflector counter-clockwise about 20 degrees, and pull apart. To install, simply reverse the process until the spring pin snaps into place. The course thread allows a little slop, but there is no chance that it will come apart unless the pin is pressed.
I plan to purchase at least one more 320A and probably three more.
While I tagged best used indoors I lugged a hundred feet of extension cord and the 320A out in the back yard last week to take some photos of the Crocus coming up.
Crocus in my back yard lit with the 320A.

For [$] this light can't be beat! Not the strongest at 150 w/s - however, this would make a perfect backlight or hairlight. Flashpoints are such a great value! I plan on buying another 320a along with a 620a.

Great value for the money. Excellent
for portraits and still life. If you
are serious about learning lighting, then this is a great way to start. I have mixed it with tungsten lights and
small flash units with good effect. Also, great to use a lone with just a reflector card for a simple and clean lighting set up. Color balance of my photos look great when I use the strobe. Modeling light nice and bright.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
The reviews were really good, so I gave it a shot. When it arrived, I took meter readings at several different power ratios. My concern is that a cheap [$]light would give inconsistent flash power.Nope, the readings were dead on. I fired it over and over and over and got perfectly consistent readings.I've used the light for two shoots so far. Each shoot was 200 frames, and all lighting came out great. No over exposures and no under exposures. If they weren't on back order, I'd order another one!

I use these lights for location portrait work. Well constructed and compact and light. I utilize sunlight as main light or back light and these lights are powerful enough as fill lights. One thing I wish front reflector attachment is better designed or lack of....

I have just bought a wedding kit of this monolights, so far, I love them.
The 320A has more powerful light than you may imagine, and its non-step power control from 1 to 1/16 will help you a lot to match your monolights with another light source, such as sun, fluorescent lights or tungsten bulbs using the correspondent color filter.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
I've used a setup of two of these lights, and another off-camera flash to take family portraits with a good success. They are sufficiently powerful for indoor photography. I am happy enought that I will likely order a third soon!

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
Mine came in the mail today. Trial studio shots came out great. The light has plenty of power for single-subject portraits, using the umbrella. I often dialed down to 1/4 power to avoid blowing highlights.
As other reviewers have said, product is sturdy and serious looking. Not a flimsy, cheap light. I got mine in the package with stand and umbrella. For a negligible increase in price, they are great, usable accessories.
The description is in error, as mentioned before. Mine does *not* have audible ready indicator or variable modeling light, but it *does* have a 1/16 minimum setting, instead of the advertised 1/8.
For the price, absolutely no reason not to get one today.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
It's got a lot more output than you would think. For the price, nothing comes close to it.
In the future, I plan to buy more powerful ones and use this for a fill, so the kit grows with the space I am using.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint Model II 320A Monolight, 150 Watt Second Strobe, 120 Volt:
Great 1 to 2 person portrait light or fill light.
Picture and description is misleading, it looks like small cheap plastic body but is metal is has rugged build, and is larger than expected. Mine does not have audible ready beeper, and modeling light is not variable, I have checked reviews on Internet the same is true for them, so I did not expect these features. I can only assume this is a typo in description.
Power is as expected for this of light 150Ws, it puts out a little more than my Canon 580EX II flash. The output is a lot broader/controlled/softer than 580 flash. Switches and control are sturdy, as is mount for modifiers. I have used 1000 dollar strobes so I think I have a good perspective. This light exceeded my expectations on every front. I will be purchasing more flashpoint strobes very soon. Great bang for the buck.
