I've used the Battery Pack on location 2x now and have been very pleased with the product. The instructions that came in the box was very helpful and easy to follow. It even included a simple illustration describing the different parts of the pack.
The unit is made from a hard plastic but is encased in a slightly padded enclosure that slides on and off the batter pack. A convenient strap is included with the pack that hooks onto the latches of the padded enclosure and can be used to hang it on the c-stands, over the shoulder or wherever you desire.
A simple connection to the AC adapter and setting the slide switch to "Charge" is all it took to start charging the battery pack.
On its first use, I setup the flash unit as my main light accompanied by a diffusion panel. I was shooting open shade on a sunny day so I was mostly using 1/4-1/2 power from the strobes. I was able to roll off about 400 shots using the battery within this power setting.
On it's second use, I was using it at night on location. Again as my main light, with an SB800 for my kicker light. I had the strobes set at full power which allowed me to knock off about 220 shots with the battery.
I didn't notice any light or power fall off from the strobes as the battery discharged. The LEDs on the pack gave an accurate indication as the pack discharged. Once it is fully discharged, the unit stops immediately.
I'm still in the process of experimenting with different lighting scenarios but based on my initial use, it seems the product worked as advertised. I'm curious to know the actual longevity of the battery after putting it through several charge cycles but so far, I'm very satisfied with it's ease of use, functionality and price.
Hope it helps!
