No, I would not recommend this to a friend
The rings are no longer metal (despite what the picture shows) and the plastic rings do not assemble easily. Forget changing Gels on the fly with this kit. I needed a few clamps and Eight Binder clips to secure the gel with the flimsy plastic rings. Without the binder clips, the rings slip apart.

All illustrations of Snappie show metal device. I received plastic Snappies with metal clips. I used two 10" Snappie Filter holders and one 5".
After two hours of use on Smith Victor light w/250w photoflood the 5" snappie melted to the point that it will not hold a new gel.
