Use on SB-600 and SB-800 - too loose

I purchased three to use with the SB-800 & SB-600 when I wanted them to work as fill and highlight strobes with wired studio grade flashes.
The three shoes all had different tolerances with different levels of fit. None worked firmly with the shoe-lock on the SB-800/600. Modifications to the shoe were required to tighten the fit.
Once fitted, the slave worked reliably indoors. Outside in ambient lighting, the slave was erratic and unreliable (as are most such passive photoeye devices).

I purchased this unit to try with my old Vivitar 2800 flash mounted with an umbrella and used for fill with a Nikon SB600, Nikon 50dx flash and my flash meter. The slave works just fine. Has yet to misfire. The foot is plastic.. so be careful when using!! My results have been very good. If you're not sure which slave to buy, this one is dependable and a great buy for the money.

This worked great to wirelessly control my SB-600 from my Nikon D50. I definitely had to have both the camera and flash in Full Manual mode, and no TTL!
My only big complaint is how loose my flash fits in the device, and also how very loose the device fits in my flash stand. The device does have the option to attach a tripod screw, so that is a plus, but very careful handling is required.

Flashes could fit a little tighter in shoe. Not a strong device for steady commercial use. Works very well for me though. Adequate range and never failed to trigger flash yet.

Overall great product. I only wish the unit was constructed of metal. The hot shoe foot seems VERY fragile. But, otherwise...right on target!

If you have older model strobes that can't be used on todays low voltage cameras, this unit will work well to make it an off camera slave.

I ordered this thinking it was a slave flash, the description of the site was very brief and didnt make it clear (to me at least) that the way this works. You can hook it to most flashes and it turns them into a flash activated flash. I use it with my Olympus E-500 and a Sunpak 383 flash. The only downside is that you have to make sure it is close enough to your main flash so it picks it up and fires.
