I use 4 pocket wizards in studio for portrait photography and remote camera triggering. They are lightweight, very reliable and easy to configure out of the box. I plan to use them for sports photography with the purchase of some heavy duty strobes.

Do yourself a favor & do not waist your money on any other triggering sytem, but pocket wizards. If you canot afford them at the moment your better off using chords while you save for these.IMHO

I needed something I could use for second shutter and long exposures besides an optical slave. Of the things I found this was the only unit that came close. Fortunately, with the MultiMax and a couple of Plus units I found my answer. It's expensive, but it's worth it. Besides, what decent camera gear isn't expensive?

The supplied sync cord from the Pocket-Wizard II to the light (mono bloc) unit doesn't work for many manufactures lighting products. You must locate the information that is needed in order to buy the correct sync cord. Once you have all of the equipment necessary to use the remote firing units, then everything works very well. So far I have used the Pocket-Wizards everyday for about a month and I haven't had a problem with miss or no firing of the lighting unit.

Most reliable system on the market, but expensive for what it really is. The right tool, and sometimes the only tool, for the job.

I was looking for a remote triggering system more reliable than the Nikon Cantankerous Lighting System (CLS), which uses infrared. So I shelled out [$]for four of these units.First off, the cords are really cheesy. Come on, for [$]a pop, give us a better cord. No, a coiled cord costs another [$].The units seemed to work O.K. at my first wedding, until it came time for the garter and bouquet toss, and the unit would not fire. Just locked up and refused to trigger the strobes, which were about 40 feet from the camera.Got some great underexposed shots, made useless by the high noise of the Nikon D200.Can't any manufacturer get this wireless thing right? I am still looking for something that works 100 percent of the time, especially at weddings.

I only wish the construction was a bit better. Feels cheap but it is not.
Hate the on/off button.
Other than that, I highly recommend it!
