Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

I've used the Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for quite some time with other flashes. Once you get used to the output of a flash with the Omni-Bounce, it's a must have. The only problem is it does not come off and on the 580EX II very well. It get's hung up on the rubber weather sealing, so putting it on and taking it off is a bit of a task. That's the only reason I deducted a star.

I purchase this for both my strobes, 580ex and 420ex and they both work as expected.
Doesn't get in the way and it fills the areas out when needed. Every photographer should have one or two handy in their carry on during shoots.

Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

Perfect for bouncing light wherever you need it. Useless outdoors unless you want to waste several stops of light behind you and not get any diffusing effect. But in tight spaces with white walls, its great. When used off camera on a light stand and paired with another speedlight/stofen on a stand, you can get that barebulb look and fill whole room with soft light. Fits a bit tight on the 580EXII due to the rubber strips they added to the flash head. But, its a small issue.

Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

This thing does what it says. It diffuses the flash light and it does it well. You could build something for much cheaper to do the same job, but it likely wouldn't be as strong or durable. It fits the flash (Canon 580 EX) well and doesn't distort or stretch.

After reading lots of good review about this product, I decided to buy one as it isn't super expensive but for just a piece of plastic, I'm not sure if it's inexpensive though. I like the size as it's not too bulky to carry it around in my Crumpler 6MDH.

This works well to diffuse harsh flash lighting and when used with the angled flash can fill in large areas where dark shadows can detract from your photos.

Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

I use this on my 580exII to keep light from being too harsh.. basically I use it as a diffuser.

It fits perfectly on the flash, and protects the top portion of the flash.

The only downside is the flash case can't close completely over the flash with it installed, and it is such a tight fit, that I don't want to take it off and put it on frequently to prevent wear on the flash.

Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

The Sto-fen works well for most indoor shots with my 580 EX-II. Because of the rubber edge strips on the EX-II it fits a lot tighter than on the original 580 EX and can sometimes be a little hard to remove from the flash.

I also have a Omni-Bounce for the 430 EX flash and was pleased to find that it can stack completely inside of the slightly larger 580 model so saves valuable space in my carry case.

As is clearly stated by Sto-Fen, the Omni-Bounce costs 2.5 stops, but with a 580 EX and shooting at ISO 400, that's really not a concern.

Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

The negative point is it should be handled with care. If you stick it into your pocket during a shootout it gets to wear out or crack easily. However this is a very good product and gives good even spread of the flash. All levels of photographers will find this a very useful tool with your speedlight.

Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

It's a fine bare bulb diffuser. Don't expect a lot from it. It softens shadows, but rotating your flash over your shoulder at the ceiling may well achieve the same effect (except out doors!).Not a bad deal. Adorama has been reliable so far, and their [@] pages have been amazingly valuable!

For wonderful even lighting, bounce, fill, portraits, you need this, the opaque model. I've been experimenting outdoors with the gold model and have found some interesting uses. You would have to decide on whether it was for you. The opaque is great. I use the model for the Canon 580 EX II.

Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

I started using the omni-bounce recently and it seems to work fairly well. As a novice to photography I have to think about the position of the flash a little more with it in place. There is far less affect even when the flash is at 45 degrees. Otherwise it is still a good product.

Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

I like using it - as the 580EXII can be a tad harsh it does well to soften the shadows and impart a somewhat more natural appearance to the highlights on people faces and other objects which require a little bit of added light. It stays on my flash most of the time for indoor shots.

Comments about Sto-Fen Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce for the Canon 580EX/580EX II Flash:

Great in a small room having a white reflective surface to bounce light off of the walls and/or ceiling. Otherwise if you don't bounce the light with this, you won't see a difference in most other applications; will look the same as bare flash as light is just dispursed everywhere. Softens shadows on subject nicely.Keep flash at 45 degrees (or 60 degrees) to get best results while bouncing off white/reflecting wall/ceiling. I have noticed the flash does have to work a little harder so a little more juice is required, but results are worth it. Performs up to expectations and definetly recommended if you're going for the effects it accomplishes.Asim [...]

I've been using this product for a couple of days. It's not a bad product at all. It is what it is and does what it's meant to do. It does diffuse the light from my 580EX nicely. I'd recommend spending the extra money on a LightSphere II
