Innovative Product - Poorly Constructed
By PhotoguyVerified Reviewer from Chicago, IL on 1/9/2008
Pros:
Easy to store, Easy To Use, Improves Photographs, Portable, Saves Time
Cons:
Not Durable, Very Flimsy Construction
Best Uses:
EBay Photographs, Macro Photography, Small Product Photography
Describe Yourself:
Semi-Professional
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The D-Flector provides an easy to use seamless background that is excellent for small product photography as required on eBay and other on-line sales venues. The concept of using a reflective background to eliminate the gray color normally associated with pictures taken against a white backdrop is clever. It definitely minimizes the time required to produce a professional looking image. That said, if you want a pure white background, without any shadows, (what Sharpics refers to as a ?floating background?) you will still need to spend some time using a photo editor such as Photoshop.

On the down side, construction and quality control of the D-Flector is far below average for this type of product. The case appears to be constructed from several pieces of lightweight hardboard laid edge to edge and then covered with a very thin self-stick vinyl. It is then folded into the case you see pictured with the vinyl covering serving as the hinge between pieces. The problem is that the vinyl is so thin that it tears at the hinge points after very little use. In fact, I?ve received two units with torn hinges and peeling vinyl right out of the box.

Bottom line; the D-Flector is a very innovative product that makes it easier to produce professional looking photographs. To use it to best advantage requires some trial and error, but that?s to be expected. On the negative side, its flimsy construction and Sharpics poor quality control are definite negatives and account for my low rating.

Would I recommend it to a friend? With reservations.
