If you have to travel light, this works great with a small, powerful speedlight, and softens the light as good as "standard" softboxes of the same size.
Purchased due to recommendation in Zac Ariass' OneLight DVD. I have used this softbox both in-home for personal photographs and in the field (literally! A field!) for portraits. The construction is sturdy and top-notch. The light produced is soft and creamy.
Just what I was looking for, something light and easy to carry, that I could use with a speedlight when I'm traveling.
I've had an Apollo for nearly twenty years, and recently noticed it had begun to lose some of the reflective material. I had to buy another -- they're so easy to use! No speedring to fuss with and my SB-26 is more than enough for quick, tight headshots. I bring three 26's, collapsable stands, with one Apollo and I've got a great, quick portrait set up.
Product produces beautiful light and is extremely portable as it goes up just like an umbrella. Being that it's used for a hotshoe flash, the light stand is in the middle of the bottom of the box which prohibits being able to point it down at an extreme angle.
