I have purchased 5 of these binders over the past 6 years from Adorama and find them to be acceptable. I'll probably purchase one or two more since I would like to match what I currently have. I assume that the binders that I had purchased previously are still the same so I'll tell you what the construction is based on this assumption. The simulated gold plated steel 3-ring binder is the same as what you see in low cost 3-ring binders that you can purchase at T[...], i.e. single step open/close, no lock/unlocking latch. The simulate leather vinyl cover has held up over the years and have not yet torn at the hinges. However, I do not open them often as they are mainly used for storage of my slides and occasional showing of my 8.5 x 11 prints. The cover opens so that it lies flat, unlike the low-price versions where the binder is attached to the spine. A nice feature. If the 3-ring binder mechanism was of higher quality then I would think the current price could possibly be acceptable.
