Comments about Olympus Olympus WS-331 Digital Voice Recorder with 555 Hours of Recording Time.:

I use it to prepare podcasts, webinars, write blog articles and white papers, book writing, and to prepare for conferences, seminars, and summits. Since I do a great deal of driving, I am able to spend my time wisely on the road using the Variable Control Voice Actuator function and the tremendous amount of storage space and an insane [meaning huge] amount of available recording time. There are so many other excellent features and capabilities available on this device that I wound up spending a good 6 hours learning all about them. When it comes to REAL VALUE, this little unit wins the MVP Award of the year. I am glad I spent over 8 hours researching on the internet for the best digital voice recorder in its class...it was truly time well-spent.

Comments about Olympus Olympus WS-331 Digital Voice Recorder with 555 Hours of Recording Time.:

I received my first digital voice recorder as a gift from my husband. It was a DS-2 i was previously using a mini-disc player and the discs were outrageously expensive...after I got the ds 2 It did not hold enough memory for me, so I bought up...a ws310m this was fantastic though i found it to be fragile in the sense "the battery holder" was not sturdy.
I then bought ws-331 m. Wow i cannot say enough positive things about this little recorder.when i load on to my computer the quality is super!

Comments about Olympus Olympus WS-331 Digital Voice Recorder with 555 Hours of Recording Time.:

Unusual feature is built in speaker, not found on most MP3 players. Undocumented: hold down the fast fwd/rev key long enough, it automatically goes into superfast mode. Dislikes: 1. Cant erase files from PC, must do from recorder. 2. time/date stamp does not show up on downloaded files in Windows Explorer AFAIK. Must look at LCD on recorder for file info. 3. Voice control has a sensitivity adjustment, but no delay adjustment.
Haven't located any utility software package for this recorder yet.

A great business and college tool
By Bristol RickyVerified Purchaser from Bristol, VA on 7/10/2007

Bottom Line:

Comments about Olympus Olympus WS-331 Digital Voice Recorder with 555 Hours of Recording Time.:

This is truly so much better than the old tape versions of these machines. With its realtime headphone output and mic jack, a broadcaster could use this to do news stories or interviews. The only thing lacking is a home dictation tool set add on, or bundled software like dragon naturally speaking... these would be good add ons. The other thing ... I have not figured out how to add additional notes to a current recording... I end up opening a new file... this could be tough on brainstormers or those using it to grab notes to self.
