Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I have been using dot matrix for years. This is the first laser printer I have bought in 10 years. The product is easy to network through ethernet. Just make sure you use the default drivers that come with the mac and no not install the included drivers on mac. I also use it with PCs on the same network. The unit is silent when it is not printing and warming up quickly.
