I travel all over the world and wanted a set of plug adaptors and a surge protector all in one package. This was about the only option on the market. Many countries don't have the same quality of power as in the US so a surge protector is a must. This unit has a very nice plug design that covers you in almost every country. It has a safety interlock that only allows only one set of plugs to be extended at a time. Surge protection in Joules is not super high, but is good enough for a single low power device. This unit is not a voltage converter just a plug adaptor.
