I recently converted my flashlights to led bulbs and realized they can run much longer on nearly exhausted batteries. So I started saving batteries for my flashlights, but decided a tester would be far easier than trying out batteries in my flashlights.
This tester is almost perfect, but not quite. With brand new 9v batteries (the type that go into smoke detectors) it registers nothing - it looks like the battery is dead. But if the battery is partially used, then it indicates a correct percentage. Other than that, I am happy with the tester.

For years we have relied and determined policy from the battery level indicator on the wireless microphones. Let's face it, wireless microphone manufacturers are in the business to reproduce sound...not test batteries. Their level indicators are a good guide but the ZTS Mini-MBT tells the real story. After testing nearly 700 batteries that were heading for the recycling graveyard I found a use for 45.6%. Incredible savings!

Many batteries that don't seem to be working are not really worn out. This device has easily paid for itself in saved batteries. Some devices require almost fully charged batteries to work properly but others work fine with partially worn batteries. Using the tester, I can see if there is still useful life left in batteries which don't seem to be working in the device they are in.

This is the perfect battery tester for traveling. I already purchased the larger version of this one. but it is too bulky to take out for photo assignments tasks.

Needed something easy to use that I could check to see if the batteries were dead or if the item was not functioning on the many battery operated items in our home. This has been well worth the money already. In a couple instances, even though the item failed to function, the batteries tested good and I had to reset the item or repair it. Saved batteries! I could also check to see if stray batteries were OK or needed disposed of.
Nice small size that fits in my battery supply box and it's simple to use!

Out of 4 batteries only one was bad. It saved me money by needing to replace only one bad battery.
You can tell immediately how much energy is left in a battery.

Why would so many battery "testers" test WITHOUT the battery being under load is beyond me, but ZTS has very cleverly filled a much-needed niche. While their products are over-priced, I will gladly spend a few extra bucks so that ONE OF MY FELLOW AMERICANS MAY HAVE AND KEEP A JOB here at home. This product is entirely made in the USA, and in this day and age it's well worth mentioning.
I do think ZTS could do a far better job bringing this aspect to the forefront!

I have purchsed three of these testers up to now.I have paid about [$] total for all three. I do not regret spending the money. These testers have saved me enough money to pay for all three.I have caught people throwing batteries in thetrash that they said were no good. I used thetester and thanked them for the almost NEWor still VERY USEABLE battery(ies).

Expensive compared to other battery "test" units. The difference is that this unit tells you the true condition of the battery by putting a load on it first. This is the only way to really find out the health of a battery.
I've found you need to ensure that you have good contact with the contacts and the battery or you will get an incorrect reading.
No more "mystery" batteries in my house!

This little gem is wonderful for testing the most used batteries. If you have kids with battery powered toys, this is a must. I couldn't tell you the number of times I replaced all of the batteries in a toy or in my photographic equipment - not knowing if they were all bad. What I have found is that one battery can be the culprit and this tool will find it.
