Just a great macro lens. All 3 Sigmas are, 50mm and 180mm, too. Every bit as good at Tamron or EOS. With filters, a great portrait lens too (it is TOO sharp for many portrait types). The autofocus can be slow when you greatly change object distances, but this is true of all 1:1 macro lenses. The rewards of the lens are the quality of the images - and this lens is GREAT.
