Pretty Good... But...

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I have gotten some really amazing images with this lens when I am employing it as a Macro. And it makes a great option for low light scenarios because of its 1.8 aperture.
Where I have problems is when I am using it as a wide angle lens to capture wide scenes I sometimes get whole shoots back and find that they were not as sharp as they should have been. I think the issue is not the glass because this is not always the case but instead I have found that I cannot rely on the auto focus and manually focusing is very touchy because even a tap on the focus ring equals a great deal of plane change.
Great for macro, less great for wideangle
